Ten Outrageous Leaders

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR Frederik Vervaet, University of Melbourne

Antiquity has spawned a great many leaders, and some continue to stand as inspiring or controversial examples of leadership. Dr Frederik Vervaet discusses ten leaders, male and female, who could easily be labelled ‘outrageous,’ in terms of what they tried to achieve and how they went about it. After a brief discussion of their respective feats, Frederik’s attention will shift to the success or failure of their leadership styles, and their legacies. Finally, participants are invited to ponder and discuss some of the lessons for contemporary leadership that emerge from this history.
